2019 Drop-off Instructions

For accepted artists only.

This email is for artists who have already followed the official submission instructions https://www.alamedaartists.com/submit-art/#blas, and been accepted into the 2019 Blacklight Art Show.

!IMPORTANT ‘DROP-OFF’ DATE TO REMEMBER! Sunday October 6th, 2-3PM

Txt us a confirmation in the morning that you are coming.


Please print & carefully follow the instructions below:

1.  Artwork must be “Gallery Ready”: http://www.alamedaartists.com/submit-art/#galleryready

Note: If  artwork is not gallery ready, it may not be accepted into the show even it it was previously accepted via email because it is not always easy for us to determine what is gallery ready from emailed submissions. Sculpture Art must have a stand or another easy way to display. All of this should be dropped off at the official drop-off date and time. There is limited space at the gallery and this show is packed.

2.  Tags: for each piece must be completed and dropped off with your artwork.

Lightly tape tags to back of work.  One will stay on the back, the other will go on the wall.

BIOS: Please bring an artist bio to hang with your work. UV reactive paper with black ink works best for this show. Keep size under 7″x5″ or smaller.

REQUIREMENTS: Print & sign agreement – bring it with you when you drop off the work.

NO ART WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THE SIGNED AGREEMENT.

4. All participating artists must be present at the Opening Reception October 19th.

5. Artwork needs to be dropped off to the studio during the following times: Sunday Oct 6th, 2pm-3pm.

6. Invites & posters Will be available at the Drop-Off. Help distribute around the bay area Note: Feel free to run your own copies!  Email us for hi-res art!  We will place large stacks at Lucky 13 Bar and The Local Coffee Shop (both on Park Street in Alameda) by this weekend. Go by and grab some early!

7. IMPORTANT!!!  Help Us Promote the Show in 3 easy steps!

1. RSVP for yourself (through the facebook event pages).  Share the official event url in your own timeline: https://www.facebook.com/events/302535367318392/

If you are a participating artist, we will make you an official host of the event to make inviting others easier. Be sure to accept this invitation to host.

2. Invite your friends and family to RSVP (through the event pages).  

3. Ask your friends and family to invite their friends and family (through the facebook event page) and so on!

6. Distribute show posters and fliers around the bay area. You can pick these up on Sunday when you drop off or earlier at Lucky 13 or The Local Coffee Shop. Just look for fat stacks!

8. Add us as a friend on Facebook.  If you do not like us just remove us after the show.  We won’t be offended!

9. Studio 23 Commissions:

Artwork: The gallery takes 30% commission on original artworks and 50%  on prints, gift items or any work priced under $30.00. Sales are done directly to the gallery.  You will be paid after the shows are over. Usually within a week or two after the closing.

10. Art Pick Up: You can pick up your work on 2nd Friday,  November 8th, after 9pm. Alternatively you can pick your work on Sunday November 10th between 2-3pm.

11. Parking: Please do not park in the Studio 23 Parking lot.  The cleaners own this lot and they do tow! There is nearby street parking available. on Oak Street and Encinal. downtownalameda.com/explore/parking-transit/. Meter parking is free after 6PM and on weekends. 

*If  your work is too large to carry, call/txt our cells to make special arrangements.  Please do not park in the Studio 23 parking lot.

12. Other important things to remember:

  • Feel free to bring a bottle of wine &/or a snack.  Let us know so we can thank you!
  • Pick-Up Date:  2nd Friday evening of November 8th, after 9pm.  Alternatively you can pick your work up on Sunday November 10th between 2-3pm.  Any artwork that is left at the gallery for more than 6 months is automatically considered donated to Studio 23.  Sorry we don’t have the room to store your artwork.
  • Check out our Drawing 101 Course starting at Studio 23 with Instructor Ines Morova.
