What:  Studio 23 Gallery celebrates turning 10 years old by hosting the very first East Bay Artists Exhibit.

Our very first show 10 years ago, in 2013 and was called “Show Me Your City”. This year, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary Studio 23 and our sister galleries, 3 Dot & The Red Door will be showcasing artists from the East Bay Artists Books. Enjoy live music with The Helltones, 3 galleries to browse through over 60 original artworks, light appetizers and an all star artist panel discussion with your favorite host Victor Maved Zenge.

Local artist Victor Mavedzenge will lead off festivities with a live art talk featuring special guests like the legendary TheArthur Wright who discovered his own unique style using bleach as his medium.  Artist, traveler and spiritual explorer Maddie Aub will be joining us along with Matthew Felix Sun who weaves a dark melancholy wave of emotion with his turbulent blue strokes. We are looking forward to connecting with each other over the unique passion that flows through all of us and drives us to simply create.

Whether you’re an art collector, a casual admirer, or simply looking for a fun and memorable night out, Studio 23’s 10 year anniversary party is the place to be. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to celebrate the vibrant art community of the East Bay and the many talented artists who call it home. Join Studio 23 Gallery in this celebration of art, music, and community, and help us mark this milestone in our 10 year journey.

The history of Studio 23
Studio 23 was founded a decade ago by Jessica and Wesley Warren, who had moved to Alameda just a year earlier. They began by organizing sketch Meetups throughout the city, inviting
artists from all over the East Bay to join them in creating art. After opening Studio 23, they encouraged other artists to open studios next to theirs, creating a community of artists with a wide range of backgrounds and styles. They used their marketing and artistic skills to promote events such as the 2nd Friday Art Walks, skill- building workshops, Holiday window contests, music and film events, the Annual Alameda Summer Art Fair & Maker Market & Black Light Art Show . They also supported causes they believed in, including Creative Art Program most recently with Girls Inc and fundraising events and opportunities for FAAS, Ukraine, Standing Rock Protest, Ghostship Fires and more.

Thanks to their efforts, Studio 23 became known across the country for its vibrant art community, and many artists moved to the area as a result. They funded these activities themselves until
a group of artists formed ArtPush.org to facilitate fundraising and build on their efforts. During the pandemic, when open studio art shows were not possible, ArtPush published a series of books featuring 100 diverse artists each year, beginning in 2020 with East Bay Artists. They also launched 2nd Friday Art Talks in 2020, featuring in-depth interviews with artists featured in these collections of eclectic art. The community of Alameda is grateful for Jessica and Wesley’s continued contributions to the well-being of the community through art.

Thanks to our community East Bay Artists Art Books are now available POD at Bookbaby.com

Proceeds benefit local art nonprofit ArtPush.org
